Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) – A judge has temporarily halted the Trump administration’s efforts to eliminate the Job Corps program.
According to Reuters, U.S. District Judge Andrew Carter issued a temporary restraining order on Wednesday in response to a lawsuit filed by a trade group that operates Job Corps centers.
The judge also ordered the U.S. Department of Labor to appear at a court hearing on June 17. The lawsuit alleges the department is violating federal law and regulations by abruptly shutting down the program.
The Turner Job Corps Center in Albany is currently hosting a job fair for those affected by the recent closure of the center.
The fair ends at 2 p.m. this afternoon.
