Description

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - 18-year-old Taylor Nelson graduated from Valdosta High School in May 2025, she now attends Georgia Southern University (GSU) in Statesboro.

By the time Taylor arrived at GSU, she had already launched her own nonprofit. It’s called The Giving Grace Foundation and its mission is simple: lift burdens off others, no matter how big or small.

A mission rooted in Ephesians 2:8.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.”

Taylor says her “why,” stems from the loss of her grandmother and her father.

“One day I was just riding along and I was thinking it’s a lot of people in the world that are hurting and they need help. So I was telling my mother that I could be the one to make a difference and give back to others,” Taylor said. “During this time it’s hard...gas prices going up. People needing food...clothes and everything . So it’s just good to help others. No burden is too big or small to give yourself grace.”

She is studying social work at GSU and she hopes her story inspires other young people to know they can make a difference too.

Earlier this month, Taylor partnered with Coastal Plains at Scott Park for Family Fun Day, where the Giving Grace Foundation foundation was blessed to give away over 100 hot dogs.

“It brought me so much joy to be able to feed families and serve my community,” Taylor said.

Her next steps include back-to-school drives, giveaways, and more community events as she continues to grow the foundation through college.
