SYLVESTER, Ga. (WALB) - The GBI and the Sylvester Police Department arrested and charged Daktavius Antuan Tyler, 32, in the deadly shooting of Reginald Alford, 56, both of Sylvester, GA.

Tyler is charged with Malice Murder, Felony Murder, and two counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.

According to the GBI, on Sunday, March 22, Sylvester Police were dispatched to a local hospital after Alford arrived with a gunshot wound. Alford later died from his injuries.

Worth County Coroner Jimmy Nelms told WALB News 10 the shooting happened at the Sylvester Walmart. Alford was driven to the hospital after being shot, the GBI media release says.

Alford’s body will be taken to the GBI Crime Lab located in Macon, GA, where an autopsy will be performed.

The GBI is encouraging anyone with information on the incident to contact the Regional Investigative Office in Sylvester at 229-777-2080 or the Sylvester Police Department at 229-776-8501.

Once the investigation is complete, the case file will be given to the Tift County District Attorney’s Office for review and potential prosecution.
