DECATUR COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - Georgia State Patrol (GSP) has released preliminary details following a traffic crash that sent a GSP trooper and another driver to the hospital Monday afternoon.

According to GSP, the crash happened on February 9, 2026, shortly after 2:00 p.m. on State Route 1. A trooper was traveling southbound in the right lane when a gray Toyota Tacoma, traveling north, failed to yield while making a left-hand turn.

GSP says the trooper’s vehicle struck the passenger side of the Tacoma, causing the truck to overturn onto its side.

The trooper was transported to a hospital for treatment. The other driver was life-flighted to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Officials have not released the identity of that driver.

The Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) is assisting with the investigation, which remains active. No further details have been released at this time.
