GRADY COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) – A Grady County middle school student is now charged after bringing a knife onto a school bus Tuesday morning.
The student, who attends Washington Middle School, is charged with possession of a weapon on school property and terroristic threats. The school district said the child had a knife on a bus Tuesday morning and was making threats. Police said the knife resembled a bowie knife.
Chief of the Grady County School Resource Officers, Duke Donaldson, assured parents the isolated incident was handled accordingly.
“Kids had gotten off the bus and told her that another kid on the bus had a knife and was making threats saying ‘Somebody is going to die today,’” he said. “It’s zero tolerance for weapons on school property. If you’re making a threat of any sort to any kid, you’re going to be charged accordingly.”
No students or adults were injured in the incident.
Along with being charged, the student will be suspended from school.
