ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has released additional information on the deadly shooting at Albany State University (ASU) late Saturday night.
The GBI clarified that a total of five people were shot, one of whom died. Another person was injured but not from gunfire.
The victim was identified as 19-year-old De’Morion Tashawn Daniels, of Newnan, Georgia. He was not an ASU student, according to the GBI.
The other five victims include:
- A 13-year-old girl from Albany who suffered a gunshot wound.
- A 17-year-old girl who attends a local high school and suffered a gunshot wound.
- A 16-year-old girl who attends a local high school and suffered a gunshot wound.
- A 20-year-old woman who was grazed by a bullet.
- A 19-year-old girl was injured while attempting to flee.
The injured victims were immediately treated at a triage site on campus before being taken to a local hospital for further care, according to the GBI.
According to the GBI, the shooting incident happened at around 8:50 p.m. in a crowded area at a campus concert.
The ASU Police responded to the scene and were assisted by local and state law enforcement.
A source close to the investigation told WALB that no one was arrested in the shooting.
Overnight, police took at least four people into custody, however, they were not charged.
The Albany Police Department requested the GBI to assist in the case at around 9:10 p.m.
The GBI is actively investigating this incident.
