Description
BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WALB) - One person is dead following a Bainbridge police chase, according to Georgia State Patrol (GSP).
On Oct. 12, at around 6 p.m., Bainbridge Public Safety (BPS) attempted a traffic stop on a grey Mercedes. Police said the driver refused to pull over which is why they initiated a chase.
BPS officers requested assistance from the GSP. Troopers responded to the chase as the driver was traveling south on GA 309 at a high rate of speed. GSP said they decided to end the chase by using a PIT (Precision Immobilization Technique) maneuver on GA 309 due to the suspect driving extremely recklessly and showing no regard for the safety of others.
The driver who was the only person in the car was ejected from the vehicle. GSP said the driver was found unresponsive outside his car. Even though Life-saving measures were taken until the EMS arrived with other first responders to assist, the suspect passed away from his injuries.
The suspect is identified as 22-year-old Keuntae Stewart from Tallahassee, Florida.
GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) is assisting in the investigation. GSP said during the investigation, a large amount of suspected marijuana was located on the passenger floorboard of the car.
