TIFTON, Ga. (WALB) - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is currently investigating a deadly shooting incident in Tifton.

Tift County Deputy Coroner Blair Veazey confirmed the incident occurred on Birch Drive. The GBI confirmed 68-year-old Larry Johnson was shot to death and pronounced dead at the scene. Johnson’s body is being taken to the GBI’s Macon crime lab for an autopsy.

The events leading to the shooting are limited at this time. WALB has reached out to officials to get more information on what led to the shooting and the identification of the victim.
