Description

CAIRO, Ga. (WALB) – The Georgia Department of Agriculture is warning residents not to use kerosene recently purchased from a Cairo gas station after inspectors discovered possible contamination.

According to a Facebook post from the department, the Fuel & Measures team identified potentially contaminated kerosene during a routine inspection at Drew’s Self Service Station, located on 330 N. Broad Street in Cairo.

Officials say anyone who purchased kerosene from this location on or after February 10, 2026, should not use the product.

The department warned the kerosene may be volatile, which could pose safety risks if used in heaters, lamps, or other equipment.

Customers who recently purchased kerosene from the station are encouraged to discontinue use immediately and contact the Georgia Department of Agriculture for further guidance.

WALB will continue to follow this developing story and provide updates as more information becomes available.
