OCILLA, Ga. (WALB) — A fourth victim has now been identified in a deadly shooting in Ocilla that left one person dead and multiple others injured, as the investigation continues to unfold.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirms it was requested by the Ocilla Police Department to assist in the shooting that happened near the intersection of East 10th Street and North McKinley Street during a block party over the weekend.
Investigators say officers found multiple victims with suspected gunshot wounds. They were transported to nearby hospitals.

19-year-old Marquavious Westbrook was pronounced dead at the hospital. Family members say he was simply attending the party to have a good time before the night took a tragic turn.
Three others were initially identified as injured:
- 31-year-old Hilary Curtis
- 20-year-old Damonee Crumedy

WALB has now confirmed a fourth victim, 26-year-old Tyriana Oliver, was also shot.
Pastor James C. Curtis of Pleasant Grove First Baptist Church told WALB his daughter, Hilary Curtis, was shot on her birthday.
“Well, with me, receiving a call in the midnight hour that your daughter’s been shot is traumatic in itself. And praise God that before my children leave home, I’ve always prayed God’s covered upon them. And he did that with Hillary. She’s recovering nicely and doing well.”
While Curtis says his daughter is expected to recover, he expressed heartbreak for the Westbrook family, who lost their son.
“But my heart goes out to the Westbrook family of the young man that had lost his life. This is not indicative of our community. Ocilla, Irwin County, is better than that. We had some agitators come in that disturbed our peace. And it’s just tragic the way it happened,” he said.
Curtis and other community members believe those responsible may not be from the area, pointing to what they describe as outside agitators.
Ocilla Mayor Melvin D. Harper II also addressed the tragedy, emphasizing unity in the community.
“We’re already experiencing and seeing unity — phone calls, concerns, throwing our arms around each other, just as Ocillans do. But you are just hopeful that this continues to bring us together and not cause division, because this does not represent nor reflect who we are.”
In a previously released statement, the mayor called the shooting a “senseless loss” and extended condolences to the Westbrook family while urging anyone with information to come forward.
Pastor Curtis says the violence must stop and is urging the community not to stay silent.
“It’s not gonna be long before the next grieving mother is sitting on that front pew. And my heart bleeds for these mothers, young mothers, who are losing their boys and girls at an early age. And if we look over it, the victims — they were all innocent bystanders,” he said.
He added that accountability starts within the community.
“If you know something, say something. It’s not right for us because these people that’s doing this, we know them. We know them. There’s some of our sons. There’s some of our cousins. And you know what they’re doing in these streets. Say something. Stop hiding them. Because if we don’t get them off the streets, sooner or later, they’re going to have your family mourning in tears.”
The GBI says the investigation remains active and ongoing. No suspects have been named at this time.
Family members and community leaders continue calling for justice and an end to gun violence.
Officials urge anyone with information to contact the Ocilla Police Department or the GBI.
