Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Quiet and dry through the start of Sunday as cloud cover builds throughout the night. Winds will remain breezy out of the south as wind gusts reach 25 mph. Lows into the night will rise into the mid to upper 60s. Sunday will mostly be hot and dry with temperatures by the afternoon soaring into the mid-80s, humidity remaining high, and wind gusts reaching up to 30 mph. Storms start moving in by the evening.
A First Alert Weather Day remains in place for Sunday evening as the Storm Prediction Center has placed parts of South Georgia under a Slight Risk (2 out of 5) mainly west of a line between Weston and Blakely, and Marginal Risk (1 out of 5) for the rest of the area through Monday as a cold front moves through. The current time the line of storms will arrive is around 6 PM and the threat continues throughout most of Monday. The highest threat remains damaging winds up to 60 mph, but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. Rainfall amounts are forecast to reach upward of 1″ in some areas which could lead to flash flooding as rainfall remain constant throughout Monday.
Temperatures for Monday will be cooler in the upper 60s and low 70s as the front moves through, but we dry out and cool down into the 40s by Tuesday morning. Tuesday and beyond looks dry with highs staying below average in the low 70s and lows in the cool 40s. We warm back up near average in the upper 70s by the end of the week.
