ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - A First Alert Weather Day has been issued for Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 1 a.m. to 3 p.m. across all of Southwest Georgia as a significant weather system moves through the region.
A Marginal Risk is in place for both severe storms and flash flooding. The system could bring multiple rounds of heavy rain along with dangerous conditions during the overnight and morning hours.

Forecasters say the area has a 5% risk for damaging winds, a 5% risk for flash flooding, and a 2% risk for a possible tornado. Rainfall totals are expected to range from 1 to 3 inches, with isolated areas potentially seeing more than 4 inches.
The First Alert Weather Team is urging residents to stay weather aware, especially during the early morning hours when storms are expected to be most active. Drivers are also encouraged to avoid flooded roadways and monitor updates as conditions develop.
