Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) -Georgia Power is urging customers to prepare for possible power outages as strong storms are expected to move across Georgia on the evening of Wednesday, May 6, and Thursday, May 7.
The company said spring and summer weather can be unpredictable, and now is the time to plan for possible power outages.
Georgia Power said crews are staged across the state and ready to respond. The company is asking customers to charge phones and devices now and make sure emergency kits are stocked with canned food, medications and flashlights.
Customers should stay far away from any downed power lines or tree limbs on lines and not step into standing water where lines could be hidden.
Georgia Power offers several ways for customers to stay informed during storms. Customers can sign up for Georgia Power outage alerts by text, visit georgiapower.com/storm for the outage map, or download the Georgia Power mobile app for storm and outage updates.
