Description

UPDATE: 03/21/26- 3:55 pm: An Albany home that was built in 1900 went up in flames Saturday afternoon and fire investigators are working to find the cause.

The home at 407 Society Avenue appears to be a total loss. It’s considered an historic home in Dougherty County.

The call came in at 2:05 p.m., the fire department said.

A fire investigator told WALB News 10 firefighters were able to save a neighboring home but it did suffer some heat damage.

Both homes were boarded up and vacant.

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - The Albany Police Department issued a smoke advisory Saturday, March 21, for the 400 block of Society Avenue.
