Federal and local law enforcement officials detained more than 40 individuals, including minors, during a raid early Tuesday at a Texas.
The operation was part of an ongoing investigation into the Venezuelan transnational gang Tren de Aragua, according to the FBI's San Antonio Division. Authorities seized narcotics and are evaluating potential charges based on evidence gathered during the operation.
The FBI, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Texas Department of Public Safety and other agencies have been investigating members and associates of Tren de Aragua for more than a year, according to a statement from the FBI's San Antonio Division.
Authorities executed a search warrant after developing intelligence about a possible gathering of suspected gang members and associates. A Special Response Team from DPS carried out the operation. Narcotics were also seized.
"State and federal prosecutors will evaluate potential charges based on evidence obtained during the search warrant and subsequent investigation," the FBI said.
The Hays County Sheriff's said it happened in Dripping Springs.
KEYE reached out to the FBI for additional information about the individuals and where they are being held. A spokesperson said the FBI is "unable to expand further."
