WASHINGTON (TNND) — A recent study by the Pew Research Center has revealed that conservative influencers are a dominant force on social media platforms, particularly in their support for former President Donald Trump. According to the study, 48% of posts about Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 election were made by right-leaning influencers, compared to 28% from left-leaning influencers.

These conservative influencers are not only more numerous but also more active, averaging 183 posts per week, while their liberal counterparts post an average of 72 times weekly. Prominent figures energizing Trump's base include Riley Gaines, Alex Clark, Charlie Kirk, Michael Knowles, and Xaviaer DuRousseau.

In addition to social media influencers, Trump is gaining traction among gamers. Streamers like Asmongold, also known as Zach Hoyt, and Aiden Ross have introduced Trump to their vast audiences, with millions tuning in for live reactions to political events. The Daily Mail suggests that Trump's appeal to Gen Z streamers is largely due to his irreverent and nontraditional approach to politics, creating viral moments that resonate with the gaming community.

"Trump resonates with young voters because he doesn't take himself too seriously, which they find refreshing. He's funny, and he's constantly delivering viral moments — they love it," Zach Henry, who runs digital strategy company, Total Virality, told DailyMail.com.

The Pew Research Center's analysis also found that news influencers were more likely to be supportive of Trump compared to Harris during the 2024 election. This shift comes as right-leaning influencers gain traction on social media after years of left-leaning dominance in the space.

Shifting political views are a common occurrence in America. Since the 1960s, U.S. politics has seen significant changes, including the South's shift to the Republican Party after civil rights laws, Reagan's influence in the 1980s, and the rise of the Tea Party after the 2008 financial crash. Trump's populist wave in 2016 and a growing progressive movement on the left have further shaped the political landscape.

Research from the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace indicates that between 1974 and 2004, ideological moderates declined, and the distance between mainstream Democrats and Republicans doubled. While Americans agree on many policies, emotional polarization remains a significant issue, fueled by media, political rhetoric, and party strategies.
