ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - The Dougherty County Public Library is hitting the road with a new way to serve the community.

The library system has launched its new “Library on Wheels,” a mobile branch designed to bring books, technology, and other resources directly into neighborhoods across Albany and Dougherty County.

Leaders say the goal is to make services more accessible for students, job seekers, and families who may not be able to visit a physical branch.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 2026, at the Government Center, 222 Pine Ave. in Albany. Community members can tour the vehicle and meet outreach staff.
