Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Dougherty County is addressing recent social media rumors about a ransomware attack affecting the Dougherty County Tag and Tax Office.
There is no truth to the claims that our county’s tax computer system has been hacked or that the upcoming property tax sale scheduled for March is canceled due to technical issues. We can confirm that our Tax and Tag Office is operating without any computer issues, and our property tax collection software is functioning effectively.
The county said that for the upcoming nonjudicial property tax sale scheduled for Aug. 5, it has not yet determined which properties will be included. Property owners have until Aug. 4 to pay their taxes to avoid their properties being sold at this sale.
If anyone has any further questions or concerns, they can call the Dougherty County Tax and Tag Office.
