ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A retired Fulton County Sheriff’s deputy was hit by a vehicle Sunday morning, according to the sheriff’s office.
The incident happened in downtown Atlanta near the intersections of Ted Turner Drive and Mitchell Street. The officer was working a traffic detail in connection with the Publix Atlanta Marathon.
The retired deputy, who has not been identified, is alert, conscious and breathing, according to the sheriff’s office. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The driver of the vehicle has not been detained.
