ROBERTA, Ga. (WGXA) — Dozens of Crawford County residents gathered today to take part in a monthly food giveaway aimed at helping families in need.
The event took place at the Crawford County Development Center through a partnership with the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank. According to Evelyn Chester, director of the Chester Community Food Bank, volunteers handed out hundreds of bags of food, including fresh produce, to families across the community.
Chester says the need for assistance has grown as many residents continue to feel the impact of inflation.
“Things are tight. Inflation prices are going up, and so many people are losing their jobs. So we’re here in Roberta, Georgia, trying to give out food to anyone who’s in need,” Chester said.
She added that the effort wouldn’t be possible without the support of local partners and volunteers. Chester says she wants to thank every partner involved in helping make the giveaway possible.
