WASHINGTON (7News) — In the earliest moments after a May 22 deadly shooting of a man and woman outside the Capital Jewish Museum, a massive number of 911 calls led to some confusion on where first responders needed to go, according to information obtained by 7News from D.C. officials.

The first 911 calls about the deadly shooting outside the Capital Jewish Museum at 3rd Street Northwest came in at 9:07 p.m., but almost immediately, officials were given multiple Northwest-area addresses for where the shooting happened. Dispatch calls indicated that first responders were sent five blocks away from the museum to 9th and F Streets, Northwest.

Over the next four minutes, from 9:07 p.m. to 9:11 p.m., D.C.'s Office of Unified Communications, the agency handling emergency calls, received 50 calls regarding the incident, officials said.

D.C. police were dispatched roughly 40 seconds after the first call came in, but did not arrive on the scene until 9:11 p.m.

Fire and EMS crews were dispatched at 9:08 p.m. and arrived at the scene 90 seconds later.

Moments later, a man from Chicago was taken into custody, and a couple was confirmed dead.

Police said a gunman, identified as Elias Rodriguez, allegedly opened fire on several people leaving the museum after a Jewish community event. Officials said Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, a couple employed at the Israeli embassy, were killed.

Officials said Lishinsky was preparing to propose to Milgrim.

Court documents claimed Rodriguez expressed frustrations over the conflict between Israel and Hamas, which has left tens of thousands of Palestinians and residents of the Gaza Strip dead and millions more displaced.

Rodriguez faces life in prison or the federal death penalty for first-degree murder and murder of a foreign diplomat, among other charges, per court documents.
