TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - As people begin to process Thursday’s deadly shooting that left two men dead and six others injured, support and resources are being made available, and vigils are planned to honor the victims.

Scheduled vigils

FSU announced it will hold a vigil to honor the victims of Thursday’s shooting at Langford Green in front of the Unconquered Statue at 5 p.m. Friday, according to a Thursday evening FSU Alert.

Bethel Missionary Baptist Church is also holding a vigil Friday to call for “hope, healing and harmony” at noon in the front portico of the church at 224 North Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, according to a press release from the church.

Resources and support

A Support Center for students will open on Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Askew Student Life Center, according to an FSU Alert.

“Counseling and Victim’s Advocate services will be available, and staff will be on hand to answer questions and provide assistance,” according to the post.

Individuals impacted by the shooting can call FSU Counseling & Psychological Services at (850) 644-TALK (8255).

Those in need of crisis counseling are also encouraged to contact 211 Big Bend’s 24/7 helpline at (850) 617-6333 or the National Disaster Distress Helpline at 1-800-985-5990. Trained counselors are available around the clock to provide confidential support and assistance.

FSU students who were separated from their belongings amidst the chaos following Thursday’s shooting can fill out a survey at this link and be “notified of the process to collect their belongings on Friday, April 18,” according to an FSU Alert sent out at 7:20 p.m.
