Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - We saw some spotty rainfall throughout South Georgia over the Easter holiday weekend, with heavier amounts mainly confined to areas north and west of the Good Life City. The cold front responsible for that rainfall has stalled over northern Florida, keeping cloud cover in the mix throughout most of our area today and cooling things down as result. Highs throughout the area will struggle to reach the upper 60s, with just a few seeing the 70 degree mark.
The frontal boundary remains close enough that areas along the US 84 corridor and near the Florida state line will see a chance for showers today through the first part of the week. While clouds will decrease tomorrow, especially in areas west of I-75, they will return on Wednesday, but rain chances will remain relegated to the two rows of counties closest to the Florida border. With the clouds around, highs will remain in the lower to mid 70s through the first part of the week, with lows primarily in the 50s. We may see a few upper 40s tomorrow morning north and west of Albany as skies will clear and allow for radiational cooling.
Clouds will decrease later this week, with temperatures rebounding back into the 80s. The upcoming weekend looks like a picture perfect one for mid-April with sunshine, highs in the low to mid 80s, and lows in the mid to upper 50s.
Unfortunately, rain chances will be near zero through late week into the weekend as drought conditions will not improve throughout South Georgia in the foreseeable future.
