BEN HILL COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - The Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Office (BHSO) announced that the C.H.A.M.P.S. program will move to Ben Hill County Middle School.
C.H.A.M.P.S. is a 20-week program to help the youth “resist pressures which may influence them to experiment with alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, inhalants and other drugs,” BHCSO said.
“We are especially grateful to Principal Heitzman for his support. Due to scheduling conflicts from the Ben Hill County Elementary School, the program will continue to thrive and grow at its new home in the Middle School.”
According to the sheriff’s office, today more than ever, students face dangers that older generations could not have imagined. Choosing Healthy Activities and Methods Promoting Safety (C.H.A.M.P.S.) was founded in 2003 by the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association to address these urgent challenges.
