TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - On Sunday, a candlelight vigil was held at Cascades Park to remember Lori Paige, a Tallahassee Griffin Middle School student who was found dead on April 5 after being missing for nearly two years.
On Sunday, folks of all stripes gathered to remember Paige, who was 12 when she went missing in June 2023.
Speakers called on the community to do better for “the next Lori Paige,” and played her favorite songs, followed by a moment of silence.
“That’s the problem. The people looked at this situation like (it’s no big deal),” Kendria Bryant, the organizer of Paige’s candlelight vigil, said. “It’s a shame because we should not have to do that. We should not have to do that.”
Paige’s case gripped Tallahassee as she was first considered a “runaway.” TPD has since stopped using that kind of terminology.
Paige’s father, Andrew Wiley, was arrested in connection to his daughter’s disappearance and death, Tallahassee Police announced Friday. On Saturday, State Attorney Jack Campbell denied bond for Wiley on his second-degree murder charge.
