BROOKS COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) is investigating a fatal bicycle accident that occurred Thursday, March 5, in Brooks County, officials said.

The Brooks County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) said that a bicyclist died at the scene of the crash on Thursday. BCSO reportedly responded to Highway 76 near Campground Church Road.

The sheriff’s office said that preliminary information suggests a vehicle was traveling north on Highway 76 when it struck a bicycle that was traveling along the roadway.

BCSO said a vehicle pursuit occurred shortly after this crash in the same general area. Officials clarified that the pursuit was unrelated to this crash.

GSP is leading the investigation into the fatal crash. No further details were provided.
