Description

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Further details were revealed by authorities and in incident reports about the suspect involved in a standoff with law enforcement officials on Tuesday, Nov. 18 in Albany. The man barricaded himself in a home after deputies attempted to serve him arrest warrants.

Robert Clark, 46, surrendered around 7 p.m. after authorities deployed flashbangs at the home off of East Roosevelt Avenue. Deputies did not fire back during the incident.

The over 2-hour standoff began when deputies tried to serve 13 warrants on Clark, most of them misdemeanors. During negotiations, authorities deployed a drone inside the home that Clark disabled.

Clark surrendered minutes after the flashbangs were deployed. The only injury reported was a deputy who received a minor cut on their thumb but returned to duty.

Recent related incidents

Clark was involved in two separate incidents in September 2025, according to police reports.

On Sept. 8, Albany Police responded to East Roosevelt Avenue for a domestic dispute. The victim told police that Clark choked and slammed her on the floor.

The victim reportedly told police Clark was outside working on his Honda when he accused her of letting another man in the house for her mother. She said a man gives her mother rides to and from work.

“Robert then grabbed her by her hair,” the report said.

The victim said Clark asked her who she was cursing at, then choked her using both his hands around her neck.

Clark left the home before police arrived, the incident report said.

On Sept. 12, an officer saw Clark, who had active warrants, standing next to a black Honda at the Roosevelt Avenue home. When Clark saw the officer, he jumped in the car and drove across a field.

The officer pursued Clark, who was driving about 75 mph and ran a red light at North Maple Street and Clark Avenue. The officer stopped the chase due to Clark’s reckless driving.

Later, the officer was called to an accident where a black Honda hit a mailbox and crashed into a wooded area, but Clark was not arrested.
