[ORIGINAL STORY] Savannah Police said they arrested 30-year-old Tyler Linn in connection to a deadly shooting in the parking lot of Target in the 14000 block of Abercorn Street on Sunday.
Linn is being charged with murder and aggravated assault.
WTOC has also confirmed with an official with the 3rd Infantry Division that Tyler Linn served in the Army from August 2015 to October 2023. He was stationed at Hunter Army Airfield as an unmanned aircraft systems repairer from December 2021 until he left the Army in October 2023. He held the rank of Specialist at the end of his service and has had no deployments.
Linn’s arrest comes after Savannah Police officers responded to the Target parking lot at around 4:10 p.m. Sunday afternoon. When they got there, police found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital and later died. The suspect, Linn, stayed on scene.
Sunday, Alderman Purtee said, “The shooting occurred as a result of an argument over a parking spot.“
Savannah’s Mayor Van Johnson spoke out after this shooting, saying in part, "No disagreement over a parking space, or anything else should ever end in the loss of life. This needless, unnecessary violence underscores the daily pain felt by families across our city and the urgency of our collective work to reduce gun violence and strengthen community safety."
