CAIRO, Ga. (WALB) - The Cairo Police Department (CPD) announced that an armed man entered their lobby on Wednesday, June 25 while citizens were inside.

CPD said that the man engaged in “confrontational behavior” when he entered the lobby. The citizens who were present in the lobby fled for their safety, CPD said.

The police department identified the man as Rickie Zeigler, a 40-year-old from Whigham. They said that officers confronted Zeigler and were able to take him into custody. No officers or citizens were injured, CPD said.

The police department said that this incident is under further investigation.
