LEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - A Georgia State Patrol trooper arrested a driver Saturday night after a pursuit that ended when the suspect’s vehicle ran out of fuel.
A trooper overheard radio traffic from a CVE officer regarding a Dodge Charger that had been street racing and had fled from him on March 28 at 8:06 p.m., according to a Georgia State Patrol release.

The trooper later observed the Charger on GA 32 and GA 300 driving on the wrong side of the roadway without headlights on.
Upon entering Lee County, the trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle drove off, and a pursuit ensued.
The trooper pursued the vehicle along several roads throughout Lee County. Deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office joined the pursuit and assisted.
The pursuit ended when the suspect vehicle ran out of fuel. Both the driver and front seat passenger exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
The trooper pursued the driver and apprehended him shortly after deploying his taser. Lee County deputies apprehended the passenger.
A DUI investigation determined the driver was under the influence of drugs.
