ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - An Albany woman recently published a book about how lessons learned on the golf course can be applied to real life.

LaKese Brown, an Albany native with a lifelong passion for golf, wrote a book about her experience with the sport hoping to inspire others and share her journey.

“Daddy and Me Hit the Tee was inspired based upon my life growing up,” Brown said. “I had a strong desire to just figure out a way to give back to the community and to the next generation, finding ways that I can reach them in a new and unique way.”

Brown received a golf scholarship to Brenau University. She said her dad is a huge part of her life and the book is a way to honor and thank him for getting her into a sport that has made a lasting impact on her life.

“My dad has meant the world to me,” Brown said. “He is on the front cover, and you’ll see throughout the book that he’s been with me every step of the way. I learned golf at the age of five.”

Brown said she hopes the book inspires other people to get out of their comfort zones and chase their dreams.

“I encourage anyone that wants to try new things, like writing a book or playing golf to just take that first step because it can lead you to opportunities like this, and you’ll be on the other side of it and be able to do positive things with that,” Brown said.

Brown currently works in healthcare full time in Augusta but said she hopes she can continue to give back to the community.
