ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - An Albany strip mall has partially collapsed and landed on vehicles parked outside.

The strip mall is located in the 1000 block of Gordon Avenue.

The Albany Police Department (APD) told WALB that there were no serious injuries reported from this incident.

At first, the overhang was hanging off a portion of the building, but when responders removed the last car from the collapsed overhang, it completely fell.

WALB caught the very moment it fell on camera.

Some business owners recount the moment the building collapsed saying it was pretty scary.

“I’m the first chair when you walk in, so I actually seen it when it cracked once or twice. And once it cracked, it just started sliding down,” said Kenneth Hunter, master barber at Masterpiece Barbershop. “I’m just blessed nobody got hurt, and no kids were here. That would’ve been tragic. Just thanking God everything is ok.”

Part of the building included a barber shop, an event center, a beauty salon, and other spaces that are available to lease.

WALB’s Mackenzie Petrie spoke with the building’s owner, who said they are cooperating with investigators and taking steps to ensure the safety of the property moving forward.
