ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) -The Albany Rescue Mission recently reopened its women’s shelter, but it’s still in need of help with some renovations and repairs.

The facility reopened on September 8th after being temporarily closed due to funding shortages, but the need for a safe, welcoming place for women in crisis has never been greater.

Just recently, a woman in desperate need of shelter came to the Mission. With no available rooms within a 50-mile radius, the Albany Rescue Mission was her only option. Stories like hers remind us that the dorm is more than just a building—it is a lifeline.

“We could not find anywhere for this young lady to go, so that just kind of broke our hearts and made us push forward to make this happen as quickly as we did,” said Amanda Lamb, Director of Outreach for Albany Rescue Mission.

The Mission has already raised some funds toward re-opening, but additional support is needed to fully restore this safe haven for women in need. Every contribution—large or small—brings the Mission one step closer to reopening its doors.

“Our women’s dorm is a place of safety, healing, and hope,” said Bro. Larry Hample, Director of Albany Rescue Mission. “With the community’s help, we can once again provide shelter for women who have nowhere else to turn.”

So far, the mission has raised $2,000 out of its $10,500 goal.
