ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - City officials have provided details following several fire responses across Albany during the New Year weekend, including two structure fires.

Poinciana Avenue Fire on New Year’s Eve

According to the city, on New Year’s Eve, Albany Fire Department (AFD) crews responded to a residential structure fire at 412 Poinciana Avenue. When firefighters arrived, the home was approximately 50% involved. Officials say all occupants had safely exited the residence before crews arrived. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Owens Avenue Fire Friday Night

Crews were also called to a structure fire Friday night at 1609 Owens Avenue, Apartment A. Fire officials reported major damage in the kitchen area of the unit. All occupants were out of the structure when crews arrived, and no injuries were reported.
