ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Dozens of runners laced up their shoes in downtown Albany for the 6th annual Pink Run, an event dedicated to raising awareness for breast cancer.

The run, part of the Flint River 5K Series, drew participants from across the community, including local colleges, youth organizations, and church groups, all with the shared goal of supporting those affected by the disease.

“These are important for bringing awareness to the community,” said Katy Judy, Assistant General Manager and Director of Marketing at the Flint River Entertainment Complex. “Everybody’s affected in some way, shape, or form, and this is just a small way for us to give back.”

Among the runners was SaJuana Williams, who ran in honor of her grandmother, a breast cancer survivor.

Williams emphasized the emotional impact of community support, saying, “Our slogan is ‘Women don’t let women fight alone.’ We want them to know they’re not in it by themselves.”

Alongside the 5K, a one-mile run was also held, offering participants another way to show solidarity. Organizers hope events like the Pink Run continue to grow and serve as a symbol of hope, unity, and action in the fight against breast cancer.
