CHATHAM, Ill. (WICS) — A tragedy occurred Monday afternoon when a vehicle crashed into a building that housed an after-school camp near Springfield, Illinois.

The vehicle traveled through the YNot building, exiting on the west side.

According to police, the incident resulted in four fatalities, with the victims between the ages of 4 and 18.

Three of the victims were outside the building and were struck before the vehicle entered. The fourth victim was inside the building at the time of the crash.

Several people sustained injuries and were transported to local hospitals.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured but was taken to a nearby hospital for observation.
