Description
THOMAS COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - Georgia State Patrol (GSP) took two teens into custody following a high-speed chase in Thomas County.
On Tuesday, April 15, at around 11:36 a.m., troopers were searching for a white Dodge Ram 1500 with black rims, which was reported stolen, according to Georgia State Patrol (GSP).
Troopers spotted the truck at a Circle K gas station on US-84 near Liberty Street.
GSP told WALB that troopers attempted a stop, but the driver quickly accelerated and drove away, initiating a pursuit.
The driver then lost control, hit a curb with the driver’s side tires, and narrowly missed a head-on collision with an innocent motorist. The truck came to a stop at the intersection of Liberty Street and Constitution Avenue.
The passenger exited the vehicle with a gun in his hand before throwing it in front of the truck. He then jumped back into the truck.
Troopers held the occupants at gunpoint and they were taken into custody without further incident. Two guns were recovered from the scene.
GSP said the driver was a 15-year-old male and the passenger was a 16-year-old male.
