VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) — Two men now face felony charges after Valdosta Police (VPD) recovered stolen firearms during a traffic stop Wednesday, Jan. 28, afternoon.
On Wednesday, officers said they attempted to pull over a vehicle in the 800 block of Vallotton Drive. Officers reportedly noticed the driver and passenger switch seats as the vehicle came to a stop.
The original driver was identified as 19-year-old Maurice Johntay Daniels. The passenger was identified as 20-year-old Ka’Marion Williams.

Officers found two firearms in the vehicle, VPD said. One was found on the driver’s side floorboard while the other was found under the passenger seat. Both weapons were reported stolen, according to the police department.
One of the firearms was said to be stolen from Perry, Florida. The other was reportedly stolen from the Valdosta area. In a release from VPD, officials said one of those firearms had an altered serial number.
Maurice Johntay Daniels is charged with the following, VPD said:
- Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon (felony)
- Criminal use of an article with an altered ID mark (felony)
- Theft by receiving stolen property (felony)
- Obstruction of an officer (misdemeanor)
- Driving with a suspended license (misdemeanor)
The passenger, Ka’Marion Williams, is charged with the following, VPD said:
- Theft by receiving stolen property (felony)
- Obstruction of an officer (misdemeanor)
Both men are being held in the Lowndes County Jail, according to the police department.
