ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Two people have been arrested and multiple firearms recovered following a multi-agency investigation into a shooting in Albany, police said on Monday, April 13.

The Albany Police Department (APD), along with the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO), said the arrests stem from a shooting that occurred April 7 in the 900 block of Lippitt Drive. A residence occupied by multiple people, along with a vehicle, was struck during the incident.

On April 11, investigators executed a search warrant at a home in Terrell County belonging to Anthony Rollins Jr. Authorities said they recovered multiple firearms, ammunition and a vehicle believed to have been used in the theft of a black BMW sedan. Rollins was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

The day before the search warrant was executed, officers reportedly located the stolen BMW and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle fled, and multiple individuals ran from the scene after it was abandoned, APD said.

Police said 22-year-old Jalen Tiff was taken into custody. Officers also recovered five firearms from the vehicle and surrounding area, some believed to be connected to the original shooting, according to APD.

APD Chief Michael Persley urged community members to come forward with information, warning that remaining silent could put others at risk.

“Someone probably listening, they don’t want to be a snitch or they don’t want to rat on anybody,” Persley said. “Listen, as long as people who are out there and intent to commit harm within our community, then it is putting other people in harm’s way. And then two, they even increasing their chances of being seriously injured.”

Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing and additional arrests are expected.
