BERRIEN COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) confirmed Wednesday, May 20, that agents are assisting with a death investigation in Berrien County.

According to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office, on Monday, May 18, after 10 p.m. deputies were dispatched to Weaver Drive in Ray City in reference to a shooting on the dirt road.

Sheriff Ray Paulk said deputies found a 43-year-old white male was deceased in the road way from an apparent gunshot wound. On scene was a 15-year-old juvenile male that was identified as the shooter and he was immediately detained.

The name of the deceased male has been withheld due to family being notified.

The 15-year-old has been charged with Murder, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.

He is currently detained in a Youth Detention Center, according to Sheriff Paulk.
