ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is helping Jasper police with a human trafficking investigation, the bureau said on Wednesday.
Police rescued a 14-year-old who was reported as a missing runaway from Pennsylvania in January, the GBI said. The girl was medically treated and will be taken back to Pennsylvania.
The GBI didn’t release any other details, as the investigation is ongoing. Officials ask anyone with information to call the GBI’s HEAT Unit at 404-270-8433. Anonymous tipsters can call 1-800-597-TIPS(8477), send an online tip or download the See Something, Send Something app.
Georgia’s statewide human trafficking hotline is 1-866-ENDHTGA.
