Description
WORTH COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - Worth County Schools (WCS) announced Friday, March 14, that one of their students received and accepted an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point (USMA).
Judge Dallas is a senior and JROTC Battalion Commander at Worth County High School (WCHS). Dallas became one of the roughly 40,000 students to apply to the USMA this year, according to the announcement. Of those 40,000, only about 14,000 complete their application, and only about 1,200 will be accepted, according to WCS.
In addition to being the JROTC Battalion Commander at WCHS, he also serves as the Captain of the JROTC Raider Team and Captain of the rifle team. During his time on these teams, Dallas earned many regional titles and is nationally ranked in shotgun sports.
The school system said West Point looks for the “whole candidate” through their application process. Dallas proved himself to be that “whole candidate” through his volunteering experience, national awards for representing Worth County, impressive test scores and more.
Please help me congratulate Judge Dallas, as he has shown the perseverance, determination, and down-right grit to achieve his goal of gaining an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point.
The appointment process for West Point also requires a congressional nomination. After lengthy interviewing processes, Dallas received nominations from Congressman Austin Scott and Senator Jon Ossoff. The announcement said Congressman Scott even called Dallas to congratulate him.
Now that he has been accepted, Dallas has many tasks and requirements to complete, including memorizing two books and taking 12 placement exams. After that, Dallas will report to West Point on June 30, 2025.
