ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Administrative offices for Dougherty County and the city of Albany, county courts, and recycling centers will be closed because of the incoming inclement weather on Tuesday and Thursday.
Dougherty County operations are expected to resume on Thursday, Jan. 23, weather permitting. The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will be activated on Monday at 6 p.m. to manage the county’s response to the severe weather conditions.
Chief Judge Denise Marshall has ordered all county courts, and the courthouse closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. All court proceedings impacted will be rescheduled, and those affected will be contacted directly with new dates and instructions.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, garbage collection will be stopped and the recycling centers on Meredyth Drive and at the Civic Center will be closed due to the weather.
The county will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates through its official channels, according to a release.
“The safety of our staff and residents is our top priority during this period of extreme weather. We encourage everyone to adhere to recommended precautions and stay informed,” said Deron King, Dougherty County Administrator.
For any weather-related questions or concerns, please contact the EOC at (229) 302-1900 starting at 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 20.
Dougherty County encourages everyone to stay safe and warm during this inclement weather period.
