FITZGERALD, Ga. (WALB) — Fitzgerald coach Wes Tankersley has been named coach of the week after leading the Purple Hurricanes to a 25-20 win over Worth County.

Fitzgerald trailed early before rallying to win, with the game tied for a stretch before Fitzgerald pulled away.

“A lot of resilience. We didn’t start off good. We had a lot of mistakes, but the guys just kept lugging and kept playing,” Tankersley said. “And that’s what we’re trying to teach them: resilience. I mean, you know, just play the next play.”

Fitzgerald remains undefeated this season.
