ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Fine winter weather closed out the week with tons of sunshine and pleasantly cool 60s. Tonight clouds thicken followed by showers on Saturday. Showers likely through midday for most but continue south through the afternoon with highs mid-upper 60s. Isolated showers remain likely through the evening.

Into Sunday an arctic airmass dives into the Deep South. Expect tumbling temperatures as a brisk northerly wind ushers in the coldest air of the season so far. Highs upper 50s come early then drop into the low 50s through the afternoon. Overnight into Monday it gets really cold as lows tumble into the 20s. A northerly breeze will have it feeling more like the teens. On the holiday variably cloudy with frigidly cold highs low 40s.

By the time Tuesday rolls in we’re looking at a wintry mix of snow, freezing rain and sleet arriving during the afternoon. Indeed a rare event for SGA which will bring excitement but also potentially some hazards. Prepare now by checking on your heating systems, pipes and having a warm place or blankets for your pets.

Extremely cold through the week as lows hold in the 20s and highs in the 30s into midweek. Temperatures slowly rise late week but remain below average lows low 30s and highs in the 40s.
