ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — It’s week 6 of high school football, and several South Georgia teams are taking the field tonight!

Thomas County Central and Lee County is this week’s Game of the Week McKenzie Blaze will have all-day coverage about the matchup!

HOMETOWN TAILGATE

During this week’s Your Hometown Tailgate, Aaron and Blaze got a bite at one of their favorite local spots, Carter’s Fried Chicken.

GAME OF THE WEEK

Undefeated Thomas County Central and Lee County meet Friday night in a Week 6 matchup between two of the state’s top-ranked teams, with the region championship on the line.

Thomas County Central head coach Justin Rogers said the game is a “must see for South Georgia football fans” because “it’s legit.”

Lee County head coach Dean Fabrizio said the previous result is not what is driving preparation for this year’s game.

Last year, the teams met in Thomasville, where Lee County trailed by seven points entering the fourth quarter but Thomas County Central prevailed. The Yellow Jackets went on to win the region and the 2025 state championship.

The game will be played at Lee County’s Trojan Field. Thomas County Central enters as the defending state champion.

Thomas County Central vs. Lee County kicks off Friday, Sept. 25 at 7:30 p.m.
