Description
(CNN) - The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a warning for more than 40,000 pressure cookers over a burn risk.
The Gourmia 6-quart pressure cookers were sold between 2017 and 2020 at Best Buy, other retailers and online.

The CPSC said the lid can open while it’s still pressurized, causing hot contents to spray out that could cause severe second-degree burns.
There have been five reports of customers being burned, four of them severely.
It has also prompted at least two lawsuits.
The warning also said the float valve is hard to see, which could lead someone to open the lid when the cooker is still under pressure.
Volume markings on the inner pot are incorrect, which could cause someone to overfill it. That could cause hot food and liquids to be ejected when the cooker is vented or pressurized.
Owners are urged to stop using the cookers and dispose of them immediately. They are advised not to sell or give them away.
The CPSC said Gourmia and Best Buy have “refused to agree to an acceptable recall to address this hazard.”
Gourmia said the product is safe when used as directed. It also said it stopped selling the model six years ago and said it is reviewing the matter.
Best Buy said it learned of the issue six years ago, alerted the CPSC and stopped selling it.
