LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. (WCTV) - The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of a homicide that occurred Friday in Valdosta.

Walter “Bo” Pettiford, of Valdosta, was identified Tuesday as the victim of the homicide, which happened in the 3200 block of Skipper Bridge Road, the sheriff’s office wrote in a press release.

The news comes after Lowndes County deputies responded to the area Friday in reference to an unresponsive male, the sheriff’s office said. Upon arrival, authorities determined that Pettiford was dead with an apparent gunshot wound.

Investigators then responded and determined that 54-year-old Flay Rollins of Valdosta and Tallahassee, Florida was the suspect, per the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office. Further investigation revealed that Rollins was in the area of Leon County, Florida, according to the release.

With help from the Tallahassee Police Department, Leon County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Marshal’s Office, authorities arrested Rollins in Tallahassee without further incident, per the release.

Furthermore, the 54-year-old suspect is also charged in connection to two separate homicides in Leon County.

Rollins is being held at the Leon County Jail, where he faces various charges, including homicide, according to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office.
