Description

AMERICUS, Ga. (WALB) - Albany Police Chief, Michael Persley, says the stolen vehicle that two escaped inmates from Sumter County were traveling in Monday was detected on Albany’s FLOCK cameras.

According to officials, Rickey Martin and Kentravious Holmes are on the run after they escaped from the Sumter County Jail, around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday night.

Police say that the two were in custody on multiple charges, including aggravated assault, aggravated battery and murder.

Martin was in custody in connection to an Americus 5-year-old’s shooting death on Feb. 8, 2025.

Chief Persley says that one of the two inmates has family and other potential contacts in Albany, and the stolen gold KIA with Ga tag “SDK1126″ was detected on North Slappey early Monday morning. If you see the vehicle, do not approach it.

It is unclear if the escaped inmates are still in the Albany area, and how they came to allegedly steal a vehicle.
