PROVO, Utah (KUTV) — The Utah County Attorney’s Office filed charges against Tyler Robinson, the man accused of shooting and killing political activist Charlie Kirk.
Robinson, age 22, was charged on Tuesday with aggravated murder, a first-degree felony; felony discharge of a firearm, a first-degree felony; two counts of capital obstruction of justice, a second-degree felony; two counts of tampering with a witness, a third-degree felony; and violent offense committed in the presence of a child, a class A misdemeanor.
Kirk, the CEO and co-founder of the conservative youth organization Turning Point USA, was fatally shot at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.

"The bullet struck Mr. Kirk in the neck. He slumped to the ground almost immediately," charging documents state. "The bullet's trajectory passed closely to several other individuals beside Mr. Kirk, including the questioner. ... Children were visible near Mr. Kirk's stage."
Utah prosecutors announced their plan to seek the death penalty, which President Donald Trump and Utah Gov. Spencer Cox have vocally supported.
The Utah County Attorney General Jeffrey Gray read text messages between Robinson and his transgender roommate, with whom he was dating.
Robinson allegedly texted his partner, "I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and I'm going to take it."
Robinson is scheduled to make his first court appearance in Fourth District Court in Provo virtually, from the Utah County Jail in Spanish Fork.
He is currently being held without bail.
